SOE Hosts Data Validation Session for DARE-RC Study on Merit-Based Teacher Recruitment
On September 10, 2026, the LUMS School of Education hosted a Data Validation Session for the DARE-RC-funded study, Consequences of Scaling Merit-Based Policies for Teacher Recruitment in Punjab, Sindh and KPK.
The study was led by SOE faculty members Dr. Faisal Bari, Dr. Gulab Khan and Jasir Shahbaz, in collaboration with Dr. Laraib Niaz, Ahsan Zia Farooqui and Zainab Waseem. The session brought the research team together to present the study’s final report and engage in a detailed discussion on its key findings and policy recommendations.
The research examines the outcomes of scaling rule-based merit recruitment (MBR) in teacher hiring, exploring who enters the profession, who succeeds, and the implications for legitimacy, equity and learning at scale.
The session provided an opportunity to engage with the findings and consider their implications for teacher recruitment policies across Punjab, Sindh and KPK, with particular attention to the policy recommendations emerging from the study.
