LUMS SOE conducts Virtual Information Session for Fall 2021 Admissions
The LUMS Syed Ahsan Ali and Syed Maratib Ali School of Education (SOE) conducted an Outreach Webinar on Masters Degree Programs on 28th November, 2020. The panel included Dr. Faisal Bari, Interim Dean SOE, Dr. Tayyaba Tamim, Director Academic Programs and Associate Professor SOE, Ghazi Taimoor, Program Manager IED and Jannat Khan, Alumna Class of 2020. The webinar received an overwhelming response, with participants showing significant interest in the programs leading to an extensive exchange of views with the panelists. It opened with an engaging video about SOE, followed by a presentation with details about the various components of MPhil Education Leadership and Management & Executive MPhil Education Leadership and Management, admission criteria, scholarships and a highly interactive question answer session.
While moderating the session, Dr. Bari provided insightful details about the program structure and elaborated on how the content delivery, program structure, networking and exposure at SOE will aid the students with the necessary skills to be the leaders of education reform. While formally introducing the newly launched Executive MPhil which would take the first cohort in Fall 2021, Dr. Bari explained that it is a 2 year weekend program, designed in a way that it gives the professionals the liberty to work while they are studying.
Ghazi Taimoor, while answering a question related to Executive MPhil explained that despite being a weekend program, it is going to be as rigorous and academically demanding as a standard MPhil program. With research as an integral component of the program, Dr. Tayyaba Tamim explained that how it is embedded in research and practice both, hence making it an intellectually stimulating experience.
Jannat Khan while addressing participants’ concerns regarding graduate prospects, shared her experience of student life at SOE and how her MPhil at SOE helped her to secure a job even before she graduated. The vigour of the panelists was equally reciprocated by the prospective students by showing ardent interest in the programs being offered.
