From Classroom to Practice: SOE Students Begin Their Practicum Journey

Partner Meeting Zero (PM0) marked the beginning of the Practicum Project for the MPhil Education Leadership and Management (ELM) Class of 2028, bringing students together with representatives from their partner organisations for their first engagement of the practicum. The Weekend Cohort held its PM0 on September 13, 2026, followed by the Full-Time Cohort on September 15, 2026. The meetings introduced students to the organisations they will be working with and the real-world problems of practice that will shape their projects.
 

For the Weekend Cohort, students engaged with representatives from Beaconhouse School System, Crescent Model Higher Secondary School, PMIU-PESRP, Noon Academy, CIRCLE Women Association, INNOVentures Global (Pvt.) Ltd., Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi (ITA), and Ghazali Education Foundation. The session was opened by Dr. Farah Nadeem, who introduced the practicum and outlined its purpose and expectations. Dr. Jessica Albert was also present, with both faculty members serving as supervisors for the practicum projects.
 

The Full-Time Cohort brought together student teams and representatives from PMIU-PESRP, Akhuwat, Beaconhouse School System, Kawish Welfare Foundation, and Nazarat Taleem Rabwah. The session was opened by Dr. Tayyaba Tamim, Dean, School of Education, who oriented the partner organisations on the practicum process and the work ahead. Dr. Sadaf Latafat and Dr. Razia Sadik were also present as faculty supervisors for the practicum projects.
 

Both PM0 sessions were coordinated by Fateh Muhammad Ghauri from the Partnerships Office, SOE, who facilitated the initial engagement between student teams and partner organisations and supported the coordination of the practicum partnerships.
With PM0 complete, students have begun the next stage of their practicum journey, moving from initial introductions towards developing a deeper understanding of their partner organisations, their contexts, and the challenges they will explore throughout their projects. The practicum provides an opportunity to connect academic learning with educational practice and engage directly with organisations working across Pakistan’s diverse education landscape.
