Cambridge and LUMS came together to celebrate the graduation of the first cohort of the Cambridge and LUMS Principles of Teaching Practice course at an event held at the Syed Ahsan Ali and Syed Maratib Ali School of Education, LUMS, on Saturday, 9 May. Congratulations to the 16 graduates who have successfully completed this important milestone in their professional journey.

The event was attended by representatives from key schools, with Dr Tayyaba Tamim, Dean, School of Education LUMS, Dr Faisal Bari, Director Professional Education, School of Education LUMS, Uzma Yousuf, Country Director, Cambridge Pakistan, along with Sidra Jawwad, Head of Education, Cambridge Pakistan, and Nausheen Adnan, Parliamentary Secretary for School Education, Punjab, sharing their reflections on the importance of strengthening teaching practices in Pakistan.

Guests included representatives from Beaconhouse Group, Lahore Grammar School, First Steps School System, Crescent Model School, and the Nawaz Sharif Center of Excellence, alongside members of the wider education community.

The event was also attended by Muhammad Ali Ibrahim, Director Advancement, LUMS, and members of the Professional Education Office team, including Faryal Shahid and Ghalia Ahmed, in recognition of their valuable contributions to the programme. The session was skillfully moderated by Dr Amber Noor Mustafa.

Throughout the course, participants engaged with internationally recognised best practices, developed more inclusive and learner-centred approaches, and reflected deeply on their role as educators. The graduates shared how the course transformed their approach to the classroom, showing them that while they were already experts in their subjects, the programme equipped them with the skills and understanding needed to teach effectively and meaningfully.

We now look forward to welcoming the second cohort, with registrations currently open and the next course beginning on 29 June.
