The Career Services Office (CSO) is pleased to announce that Syed Muhammad Ismail Hussain Naqvi, CEO at DIC Pakistan Limited will conduct a virtual session on 'Interview Skills and Job Hopping'

Interested students may register through the Google Form by November 2, 2020. CSO will accommodate all students on a first come first serve basis due to a limited number of seats. The Zoom link will be shared with shortlisted students a day before the event.  

Speaker Profile

Mr. Naqvi is a highly experienced leader and strategic thinker with intimate knowledge of Pakistan’s industrial, agricultural and energy sector. He has established businesses, and developed markets in various sectors with deep insight on strategic planning, financial management and team building. He has more than 22 years of experience in technical, industrial and corporate sectors, where he was most recently heading a business unit with complete responsibility to deliver top line and bottom line results. Mr. Naqvi spent the initial 10 years of his professional life in the United States working for Applied Materials Inc. (a Fortune 500 company) in technical, business development and product marketing. He traveled to Europe and South East Asia and was responsible for managing the customer base of the division for the entire region. Furthermore, Mr. Naqvi led a project worth USD 200 million to launch new products by working with cross functional teams to qualify alpha, beta and gamma stage of programme, which led to a successful commercial launch of new product.
 
He moved to Pakistan in 2008 and worked in the power sector for the first 2 years at Descon Engineering Limited.  He worked closely with Hyundai Engineering of South Korea and government bodies to bid and win an EPC order for USD 400 million Uch II Power project. He also played a key role in developing initial wind power projects with Nordex in Pakistan. 

Mr. Naqvi spent 5 years at Buhler AG, a worldwide leader in grain processing technology, as the Country Manager in Pakistan, reporting directly to President of South Asia region. Being the first employee at Buhler, he built a team of 20 people in 5 years, with a total turnover of USD 10 million from scratch. He worked with divisional heads of the company to develop a business plan for introducing a new product range in Pakistan and successfully made inroads into chocolate processing, wheat mills, feed mills and cereals segment in Pakistan. 

Mr. Naqvi worked closely with the agricultural sector of Pakistan by identifying the various challenges and opportunities it holds, to benefit the farmer as well as the mill owners. He conducted various seminars with mill owners to highlight the benefit of improved processing of grains which can help in improving their end product, increase their export potential and improve their bottom line.

He also worked as a Business Manager (Divisional Head) for Performance Coatings division at AkzoNobel Pakistan Ltd (former ICI) for 3.5 years. Being part of the Executive Management Team (EMT), he was involved in regular financial and compliance overview of the company and all key decision making process. He was also responsible for delivering bottom line profitability for the entire company.

Currently, Mr. Naqvi is the CEO of DIC Pakistan, which is a JV of DIC Japan, and the largest printing ink manufacturer of the world. He has a track record of successfully developing new markets for industrial products and building a sustainable revenue stream resulting in double digit growth in top line as well as bottom line. Furthermore, he is able to recruit, develop and support talent through performance management, coaching and mentoring during leadership roles.
