The Career Services Office (CSO) is pleased to announce a virtual mentorship session on the topic of 'Personal Branding, Why and How', which will be conducted by LUMS Alumna and Fulbright Scholar, Dr. Bushra Anjum.

Due to a limited amount of seats, CSO will accommodate all students on first come first serve basis. The virtual session will be held over Zoom, and the link for each session will be shared with shortlisted students a day before the event.

Speaker Profile

Dr. Bushra Anjum, Ph.D., is a Health IT data specialist currently working as the Data Analytics Manager at a San Francisco based startup Doximity. Aimed at creating HIPAA secure tools for clinicians, she leads a team of analysts, scientists, and engineers working on product and client-facing analytics.

Dr. Anjum also continually makes key contributions to data projects directly by employing her advanced knowledge regarding the analysis of large datasets, building complex aggregates, creating data visualisation, and conducting multivariate statistical analysis and predictive modeling. Prior to this, she worked for Amazon as a software engineer, architecting large-scale distributed services supporting Prime Membership, with particular emphasis on performance and scalability.

Formerly a Fulbright scholar from Pakistan, Dr. Anjum served in academia (both in Pakistan and the USA) for many years before joining the tech industry. She continues to volunteer at Cal State University campuses, and public schools, teaching CS-related content and serving as an industry mentor. A keen enthusiast of promoting diversity in the STEM fields, her other volunteer activities involve being a senior editor for ACM Ubiquity and the Standing Committee’s Chair for ACM-Women.

Furthermore, Dr. Anjum is also serving as a community leader and mentor at GlobalTechWomen, Pakistani Women in Computing (PWiC), CRA Widening Participation (CRA-WP), Rewriting the Code (RTC), Empowering Leadership Alliance (ELA), LeanIn.org, among others. 

Dr. Anjum is a regular speaker at the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing Conference, Richard Tapia Celebration of Diversity in Computing Conference, STARS Celebrations, CRA-WP Grad Cohorts, and various others. She has been recognised by Tribune as a Top 20 under 40 Professional for career excellence with a deep commitment to community service. She is also a recipient of the LUMS VC Alumni Achievement Award for sustained excellence in engineering, and leadership in the profession and public affairs.

Dr. Anjum received her Ph.D. in Computer Science at North Carolina State University in 2012 for her doctoral thesis on Bandwidth Allocation under End-to-End Percentile Delay Bounds. She has authored scholarly papers in the areas of performance evaluation, quality of service prediction/provisioning for networks, data science, and big data analytics.
