The Lahore University of Management Sciences, School of Education (LUMS SOE) organized a two day visit to Bhakkar, which is one of the least developed districts of Punjab province in Pakistan. The visiting LUMS SOE team comprised of Dr. Mariam Chughtai, Associate Director and Hatim Rashid, Programme Manager. This visit was a part of the school’s Partnership and Engagement Programme (PEP) which is a foundational component of the school’s model. PEP provides a platform whereby LUMS SOE can seed local and international linkages with partner organizations and institutions for collaborative endeavors in research as well as residency, internship and placement programmes for LUMS students.
The aim of the visit was to seed linkages with key education stakeholders at the district level and develop an understanding of the district’s education dynamics. The network that LUMS SOE has been able to develop through this visit is central not only to its model but also contributes to establishing a strong national footprint and provides a platform for further district level partnerships.
