International linkages were seeded at the Education Roundtable at Harvard University, May 2016 which was the SOE’s first international roundtable. The roundtable convened experts representing top universities offering programs in Education at the reputable Harvard South Asia Institute, an interfaculty international center at Harvard University that engages faculty and students through interdisciplinary programs to advance and deepen teaching and research on global issues relevant to South Asia.
The Roundtable titled, ‘Reimagining the Education School of Tomorrow’, brought together faculty from leading universities such as Harvard, Stanford, MIT, NYU, Columbia, Northwestern, Boston University, University of Pennsylvania, University of Pittsburgh and University of Toronto, with the aim of situating latest developments in research, thought, and best practices within the present education milieu.
The purpose of the Roundtable was to seek individual and institutional engagement internationally, and develop possible partnerships for the SOE, in addition to seeding the idea of an International Advisory Board for the LUMS SOE.
The primary purpose for setting up the SOE Advisory Board was to establish an independent body consisting of international faculty from the field of education that would steer the long-term direction of the school. The Advisory Board will facilitate the recruitment of key faculty from international universities. Experts in the advisory board have invaluable international exposure, experience and knowledge in Education related degrees and thus will be an excellent resource to help develop state-of-the-art undergraduate and graduate programs in Education at LUMS. In addition to this, the instituting of centers and initiatives within select universities of interest may be greatly facilitated by the Advisory Board.
